This very special banjo has a two-piece resonator flange that permits the player to remove the resonator and flange and use the instrument as an open back banjo for clawhammer playing.

The Woodie has no tone ring. Instead, it has a special "Woodie" rim that is constructed so that the banjo has a tone very similar to our banjos with a tone ring, but without the additional weight of the tone ring. The volume and power are also very similar to our traditional banjos.

Its relatively light weight makes this model the preferred instrument for players with back problems.
